What’s New in ProxySQL 2.6.4?

ProxySQL v2.6.4 is a minor release that includes several bug fixes and new features aimed at improving the overall stability and performance of ProxySQL. As always, our goal with each release is to provide a robust, reliable, and high-performing proxy solution for MySQL.

Here are some of the key highlights of this release:

  • Updated OpenSSL to v3.3.1: This update improves security and performance. By aligning with the latest OpenSSL version, ProxySQL enhances its encryption capabilities, ensuring secure data transmission and compliance with the latest security standards.
  • Added Support for Ubuntu 24 and Fedora 40: We’ve expanded our support to include the latest versions of popular Linux distributions. This ensures that ProxySQL is ready for deployment on the newest server environments, allowing for easier upgrades and future-proofing your infrastructure.
  • Stability Improvements for SSL Connections: Enhancements in SSL handling ensure more reliable connections, especially in environments where secure communications are a must. These updates reduce the likelihood of connection drops and improve overall connection stability, especially in high-load scenarios.
  • Enhanced Handling of COM_CHANGE_USER: Following authentication changes in v2.6.0, we’ve improved how ProxySQL handles COM_CHANGE_USER commands, providing better stability and reducing connection-related issues.
  • AWS RDS Topology Auto-Discovery Disabled by Default: To enhance security and reduce unexpected configurations, AWS RDS topology auto-discovery is now disabled by default. This change gives users more control over their RDS environments, preventing unintentional exposure of their topology.
  • Improvements in Query Digest Generation and Query Parsing: These updates optimize query analysis and monitoring capabilities, allowing for more accurate query statistics and better performance tuning.
